It's only Tuesday

I'm going tomorrow to get my H1N1 vaccine. I debated on whether or not I was going to do it but it's free so I might as well. I reasoned that since I'll be in and out of the schools for the rest of the year as well as working with the public and not knowing whether I'm coming or going, that I don't have time to get sick. Plus, one of my CASA kids had it. It's free at school and apparently they have a plethora of it because they keep emailing me telling me to get it.

There is no school tomorrow so I'll be doing some Field Experience at a Daycare. I have to hang out for a bit and watch the kids play, then rush to CASA kids house, get my vaccine and to a meeting at school at 5. A super bonus is that Child Psych is cancelled so my teacher can keep her kid so I'll have less running around to do. I keep telling myself that I will not have a nervous breakdown and it'll all be over soon. I got a text at work tonight informing me that I have to be in court Friday so I pitched a small fit about that. I'll leave you with a photo of Moo since I apparently have given up on Furkid Friday.

Holy Coyote

I got a text around 6 this morning from K informing me there were 2 coyotes in the neighborhood. This is the second time this year they've been actually spotted walking around (you can hear them alot). All of my dogs go out on leashes but I worry about this little cutie the most. We were on coyote watch tonight and stayed close to the house.

New phone, lots to do

I was so sick of my cell phone company and getting terrible reception at my house so I finally switched to AT&T. They have the Blackberry of course, the same one that I've been using and loved all this time but I decided to be fun and get the i phone. The first night, I hated it and planned on exchanging it for the BB the next day but I didn't. The i phone is growing on me pretty quick.

The Praxis clinic I attended over the weekend was amazing. Rather than focusing on what we needed to study and work on, she taught us simple strategies to figure out the correct answer even if we have no clue. The math portion helped me a great deal. I've had a mental block in the math dept. for years but her little tips and tricks took a lot of my anxiety away.

Tommorrow I have a full day. Moo is getting his tubes removed in the morning, then I'm headed to grocery shop before class. Tommorrow night I have to work on Praxis stuff plus any homework that hasn't been done for the week. I think I might schedule a night of drinks or something this week.

Ups and Downs

This week has been a light one so far at school. Rachel Zoe started again. I love, love, love that show. I'm becoming a regular Bravo addict. I also have developed a lusting for the I Phone after my sister got one for her birthday. The 8 gig is $100 right now. I don't know yet if I'm ready to dump my Blackberry, it's seen me through my last year of college and first real job out of school. I had a Treo before that and absolutely hated it. Palm sucks.

On the downside, K's brother in law is on his last leg in his battle with cancer. I hate to see her and J hurting but their family is coming together and they're gonna get through it. Another downer, is the dog fight I had to break up after working all night last night. General and Moo got into it and Moo lost. I knew owning bully breeds that the day would come when I'd potentially have 2 that could never play together and today is that day. We are on a crate and rotate basis with them from now on and I'm suprisingly more ok with it than I thought I'd be. Poor Moo was sedated and had drainage tubes put in his chest. Poor baby is wearing an E collar for the next five days.

Aaaaahhh

School started Monday and so far, I have a handle on things but only because it's the first week. Moo will be starting school again too. We have to complete one more set of obedience classes before we move on to the CGC (Canine Good Citizen). I ran into his teacher at work tonight and we are going to do a private training to substitute for the intermediate because where she's working now combines Basic and Intermediate and what he took before was Puppy and Basic combined.

All this stuff is making me waaay to busy. I have to meet an old friend for drinks sometime next week and most likely, that'll be the only thing other than school and studying for Praxis that I do. I have one chance to pass it and less than a month to finish studying. I'm going to a clinic on the 29th that hopefully will help me. Tonight I'll get 6 hours of sleep before class then I have to come home and study plus do housework. I feel like I'm burning the candle at both ends already.

Furkid Friday

Tonight at work I found out that Michael Vick signed with the Eagles. I found it much more satisfying when his sorry ass was making 27 cents an hour in prison. The video link below is of Johnny Justice's visit to Rachel Ray courtesy of BadRap (www.badrap.org)

Cutting Suspenders

"This makes me wanna cut my suspenders and go into orbit" That right there is a quote from my grandma and today was definately that kinda day for me. To start it off, I was 45 minutes late for court and had about 5 minutes to catch my breath from running to the courthouse before they called my case. My testimony lasted about 5 minutes then C and the girl who took my place had lunch at our usual court day spot. New Girl is a bit of an airhead and C and I were unsuccessful in sneaking off without her.

After court, I came home and sat around since my subpoena getting me off of work all day. Today is Moo's 1st birthday so I decided to take him to get a toy and some treats. We stopped off at the vet's first for flea and heartworm meds then went to Petco and got tennis balls and treats. He managed to steal a few from the treat bar and rawhide bar. I decided to stop at the gas station on the way home. I parked in the front and left the Yukon running. Bad idea. When I came out, I couldn't get the door open. Damn Moo! I never renewed my Onstar because I have navigation and all that so I didn't see the need. After waiting 20 minutes on Pop-A-Lock, I came home and renewed OnStar ASAP. I'll pay the $20 a month so next time, they can just unlock the damn car over the phone. Thank God I left it running or else I would've broken a window so poor Moo wouldn't have overheated. He knew he did something wrong but I couldn't get mad at him.

Tonight will be a low key domestic evening of washing and tv.

Crack of dawn

Why am I awake at 7 am after working until 3 am pray tell? Because we have a meeting at work this morning. That is the one thing I don't miss about the service industry, early meetings on weekend days all because we're serving a new drink or changing something small and unimportant that they could've told us about before a shift one night instead of getting us up at the crack of dawn. I'm so exhausted I don't know if I'll make it to church this morning but I can hear my grandma saying, "Jesus was tired too when he died for your sins now wasn't he?" "There is no excuse for missing church."

I do love working in a place where everyone in town goes though because I always end up running into someone I needed to get in touch with. That also has alot to do with the fact that this is a small ass town. I saw Moo's trainer last night. She taught us basic obedience and is the best ever plus she owns bully breeds so she knows what's up. On our last class, she said she was moving but ended up staying and working somewhere else. So Mr. Moo will be going back to class ASAP.

Since I've made amazing money this weekend, I think I'm going to spend a bit this afternoon if I'm not taking a nap. I made the mistake of friending a cute little local boutique on Facebook and their new stuff is tempting me every time I log in. I have done great so far with my "Frugal Summer" and wearing what I have, but everyone needs a little reward every now and then.

For my next post. I'll be showing some of my favorite things from around the house.

Hot as heck and the faithful dog

I'm writing this from a remote locale known as the front porch. And it's not because it's nice outside or I like the breeze. My central a/c went out last night and it feels alot better out here than it does inside. I'm patiently waiting for the technician to come fix it. Now for your regularly scheduled programming.

I've gotten alot of crap from family, friends, co-workers, strangers over the breed of dog I choose to own. I have 2 pit bulls. Common reactions to this are: "oh my God, aren't you afraid they'll eat you in your sleep" "don't ever have kids" "you're not a gangsta, why do you need dogs like that" omg I'm never coming to your house" Get a life people, they are just dogs. It's all in how you raise them. Labs and other typical "family" breeds can bite just as frequently. It's like old Aunt Mabel's little yappy dog thats bit the mailman and all the grandkids but no one says anything because well, he only weighs 10 lbs.

I own pit bulls and I couldn't ask for a more faithful dog. My Boxer could care less what I do but you can bet my pit bull knows the difference in me leaving to go somewhere or just walking to the neighbors. When I walk out the door, she is right there waiting for me when I get back. She also knows where the puppy is at all times and will go looking for him if he gets too far. There have been nights where she's stayed awake watching the door when I've been home alone. She responds to my moods so well.

I'm going to step down from my soap box now and wait patiently for the air conditioner man to come fix my a/c. Thank God it's brand new and under warranty.

Throw it in the bag

After doing absolutely nothing yesterday but sitting by the pool (I skipped arena football because I was too lazy to put on actual clothes) I had to get up bright and early for my nail appointment. The salon owner had just gotten back from a show in Vegas and brought all kinds of goodies to test out. She had a mineral eyebrow filler that looks amazing right now but I'm waiting to see how it holds up during work tonight before I actually buy it. One compact includes stencils and brushes and is supposed to last a year with daily wear.

Then I decided to hit up the Victoria's Secret semi-annual sale since the email I received on my BB at 2 am reminded me that it started today. There wasn't much I didn't already have tons of but I scored some lip glosses because you can never have too many, plus a few other things. Then I went to Bath and Body works (who is also having their sale) to stock up on soap and Wallflowers. I swear by Wallflowers and Orleans candles to keep my house smelling good. Plus Febrezing rugs, couches and curtains every other day or so. I am so anal about not having that "doggie smell" to my house and with 3 large breed dogs it's a constant battle. Thank God they are short-haired, I don't know what I'd do with a severe shedder.

Hodge Podge of Thoughts

Basketball season is officially OVER!!! I hate the sqeaking sounds the players shoes make esp. when it's amplified on a sound system in a sports bar. The other night at work, I met a sweet guy and ended up giving him my #. This hasn't happened in awhile so it's nice to know I've stil got game even if he never calls.

Tommorrow is pool day with K then possibly attending the arena football game if A can score 2 tickets. Mississippi Man (my old boss) has season tickets but a certain employee seems to get 4 of them every home game and never goes. Said employee is also the type that does more sitting and gossiping than actually working.

I've got to get cracking on the cleaning since my baby brother T will be here next weekend. I also need to figure out what to get Dad for Father's Day. My guest room is not fit for a guest and this floor isn't gonna mop itself.

I realized how much I've grown up after biting my tongue during an exchange with the neighbor today. I went to take the trash out and Moo ran out the front door. The neighbor's kids were playing in the front yard with the sprinkler and Moo ran over there to have some fun too. I quickly picked him up because it's known that this woman doesn't care for dogs but Moo is pretty darn cute so she's all awwww while discussing dogs and the fact that the people accross the street have pit bulls and OMG how she hates "those dogs". Part of me wanted to be like, "you should research your breeds dumb bitch because you're petting one" but I just nodded and walked home with Moo. I realize that some people will believe what the media portrays and will not form their own opinions and I cannot change their minds.

Furkid Friday

I went into work and there were extras so I went home. I've spent the evening so far playing with the furkids and washing towels, sheets and duvets. I have broken up arguments over toys and toilet paper rolls. What an exciting way to spend a Friday night but at least I'm caught up on my washing and can mop floors when I get in from work tommorrow night. We have baseball and UFC tommorrow so things should be long and boring. UFC starts right after the game ends. Oh the joys!

Avoiding cleaning at all costs

I am supposed to be washing towels and sheets in addition to re-drying some of my clothes that have been sitting in the basket not getting folded much less put away but I'm rebelling. I'm off today and my feet are killing me from twisting my ankle the other day. The dogs are running rampant and today I just don't care.

However, I looooove my nail tech Mrs. B. It takes 35 minutes for me to get to her, but if she moved 2 hours away I'd still drive. She is amazing and worked for free this morning on me! I had an appointment last week but she wrote the wrong time in her book and wasn't there when I got to the salon. She couldn't make it so I was a little upset but I rescheduled for today. She is such a sweet lady.

I'm working tommorrow night which is the worst night of the week so I figure I can afford to be lazy today. I'm off Wednesday to recover from said chaotic night and I plan on spending it laying by the pool if the weather isn't crazy. Please Lord no rain on Wednesday!!! I need sun so bad. I quit tanning in the tanning bed after my mom had a basal carcinoma removed and I realized that it's terrible for my skin. I hate being pasty and spray tans just get on my nerves, too much prep and upkeep work and I can get a month in the tanning bed for the cost of 1 spray tan that fades in about a week. I will try to survive this summer without one but we'll see. A's tan is amazing and my pasty self is jealous.

Anyone ever find an old roll of film and a disposable camera and wanna get it developed but are truly scared of what's on there? I found a disposable camera the other night while cleaning. I haven't used one of those in forever so I'm guessing it could be from a canoe trip since that's about the only time we'd use it. It could be that someone left it here, anything's possible. I'm tempted to take it to be developed this afternoon but I'm not too sure.

Wishing for a spot on the beach and a nice cool drink

Since I've been home from work, I've been fussing at the dogs, wrestling random things out of their mouthes and generally running around like a crazy person. I've been working on getting them used to eating dinner later since I'm working later now and it's like I'm running a damn zoo.

We had to call the cops tonight at work because someone stole our rug by the front door. The other night there was an alligator loose in the parking lot behind the building and they had to call Wildlife and Fisheries who of course showed up 2 hours later after the thing had left. Of course, all the guys had to go out and attempt to catch it. I know it sounds like I work in some redneck hole in the wall in the middle of nowhere but we're just close to the lake and the area right behind the building leading to the lake is marshy.

I am beyond exhausted but I have to finish washing before I can head to bed. I'm off Sunday and Monday so I'll catch up on my sleeping then.

Sunday Funday

I'm having quite the day dealing with Moo. To start things off, I was in the shower getting ready for church when the other 2 started playing the wrestle game and he was barking and screaming at them. Then, as I'm blow drying my hair, I keep having to stop him from taking various things out of the bathroom and running with them. He takes the washcloths out of the hamper, the toilet brush out of the holder and whatever else he can get his paws on. So far he's killed: 1 laptop mouse, 4 shoes (never from the same pair, God forbid), 6 washcloths, my fleur de lis that used to sit on the coffee table and several plastic cups. He's a crafty little shit. His trainer says to put him in time out by leashing him to the table leg and setting a timer for 2 minutes. Bullshit.

A and I went to the early service at church today and just as we were getting out, it started pouring and of course I can't find my car so I'm running through the parking lot in heels holding on to my bible and notebook for dear life. I finally get in, and there goes my hair I worked an hour on.

After church, I headed to visit my grandparents and spent the afternoon and evening there. My grandpa still can't see well enough to go to church so he was in his chair listening to a sermon on tv. I went down to my parent's for a little while then we all headed back to grandma's for dinner. My parent's anniversary is today. They've been together 34 years.

I decided to make a to-do list for the week because I've gotten so lazy about getting the little things done since I stopped working 8-5. School is less than a month away and I need to get my butt in gear. Easier said than done.
