Rockin and Rollin

These are my 2 favorite candle brands ever. I always get the Diva fragrance in Tyler and Orleans #9 rocks my world.

Today was a busy day. I went to my old job and picked up a CASA case. It's funny being in the volunteer role rather than supervising. CASA is a great organization and always looking for volunteers. http://www.blogger.com/www.nationalcasa.org for info.

Then finally the cable guys came to fix my tv. I live in the outskirts of town so I have a terrible redneck cable company but the cable guys are sooooo cute.

Talked to BFF who is a teacher has been telling me about her attemps to educate her students on Swine Flu. She teaches middle school special ed and has an ESL student from Mexico who decided to make himself a sign that said, "you cannot deport us all" Gotta give the kid credit for correct spelling.

I'm finally registered for all my classes and if my plans work out I'll be teaching by Fall of 2010. I need to take one more class this summer but it's closed. I have to got to start hustling at work so I can get tuition paid for the summer. June will be here before I know it.

My head is killing me and I need to get to bed early but having the bedroom tv back working is not going to do any good.

H Town

I'm still in Houston. I just got back from the hair salon. The stylist did an AMAZING job on my cut and color. My hair is long and thick so it's a pain to deal with at times.

I've decided that I no longer want to look at any teaching jobs here once I finish my certification. Don't get me wrong, the schools here are amazing, not to mention the shopping is waaay better than where I currently live but the traffic just drives me insane. It take way too long to get anywhere and I tend to get road rage quite easily. At home, I can go to Wal-Mart at 2 am and not worry, we don't have to lock our doors and people just seem relaxed and nicer. I just think I'll stick to visiting for now.

I am not looking forward to the 2 hr drive back but I've been gone almost a week and my Temperpedic is calling my name.

I've been watching the Swine Flu coverage on the news and apparently a toddler has died at Texas Children's Hospital. Prayers go out to those parents. I can't even imagine what they are going through.

With love from Texas

I have been in Houston since Friday night relaxing and trying to enjoy the last free weekend I'll have in months. Next week, I start the task of busting butt working and going to school.

On the upside I've got all my study materials for my PRAXIS II and my autobiography is almost finished. I still need to get the 2 reference letters then I'm on my way.

The ride over here should've taken me 2 hours but because of the weather and flooding it took 5 hours. Not to mention that before I left, I was trying to child lock the back doors to keep the dogs from getting out and managed to break the door lock on my Yukon. My mom had to come meet me in the parking lot at Sam's and fix it for me. Not my proudest moment.

Tommorrow, I'm going to my nails taken care of, I need a fill somethin terrible. I'll be heading home Tuesday, the gym and tanning bed are calling my name.

First Post

I've been reading blogs for a good while but haven't had the desire to start my own until now.

A little about me: I'm 25 and recently graduated from college with a BS in Criminal Justice. I'm going back to school to earn my certification to teach partly due to the fact that Louisiana is in a hiring freeze for state employees which just about eliminates every good job possibility. I just resigned from a position as a Coordinator at a non-profit agency to go back to school. I'm a shopaholic and probably will never be able to change that although I've gotten better about it. I was raised Southern Baptist but stopped going to church due to the hypocracy that was rampant in the church I attended. I just started attending a non-denominational church but I'm still not 100% sure it's the one for me.

My goal is to post 3-5 times a week depending on how much school kicks my butt. I am a pretty open person and can be opinionated at times but who isn't?
